(一)「I」vs「me」:這是最常見的錯誤之一,人們經常會把「I」誤用為「me」,例如:「John and me are going to the meeting」,應該是「John and I are going to the meeting」。

例如:「The discussion was between John and Jane」、「The discussion was among John, Jane and Kevin」。

(三)「Which」vs「that」:「which」是指附加訊息;而「that」是指必須附加的訊息。例如:「That report, which was due last Friday, is still not finished」。加不加「which was due last Friday」,句子的意思也不會不同。

至於「that」的用法,比較一下以下兩句:「Any movie that you recommend is good」和「Any movie is good」。

例如:「There are fewer people in the room」是正確的;但「There are less people in the room」是錯的。

例如:「He is sitting beside me」、「Besides me, no one else is here」是正確的。

例如:「The new policy will affect the company’s profits」、「The new policy will have an effect on the company’s profits」。

例如:「I advised him to take the job」、「I gave him some advice about the job」。

例如:「Can you bring your laptop to the meeting ?」

若讀者在公司建議同事把手提電腦帶回家工作,便可說:「Can you take your laptop back home so that you can work from home?」

例如:「The cancellation of the meeting was due to the storm」、「The meeting was cancelled because of the storm」。

例如:「I heard someone talking in the next room」、「I listened to a talk delivered by a celebrity」。
